In an interview, the Convener and CEO of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), Mr. Festus Adebayo, speaks about the AIHS Young Professionals Club and its role in shaping the next generation of housing industry leaders in Africa.
Over the years, AIHS has provided a platform for governments, developers, financiers, manufacturers and other stakeholders in the housing and construction sector to meet and do business. As AIHS approaches two decades of impact, it became clear that sustainability in Africa’s housing sector depends on preparing the next generation of professionals to drive innovation and delivery.
The Club was established to create a structured platform where young architects, engineers, developers, artisans, urban planners, mortgage professionals and students can gain mentorship, industry exposure and practical knowledge to excel.
The primary objective is to groom future housing industry leaders. Africa faces a significant housing deficit, and solving it requires innovative ideas and active participation from young professionals.
The Club encourages skills development, entrepreneurship and leadership across the housing and construction value chain.
Members will gain access to mentorship, internship opportunities, innovation pitch sessions, policy advocacy programmes and capacity development workshops.
They will also enjoy discounted access to AIHS conferences, participation in the AIHS Innovation Arena, media exposure through Housing TV Africa, and eligibility for recognitions such as the AIHS Young Professionals Award and AIHS 40 Under 40 initiative.
Membership is open to young professionals aged 18–45 working or studying in housing and construction-related fields. This includes architects, civil engineers, real estate developers, quantity surveyors, mortgage bankers, interior designers, building materials entrepreneurs, artisans and students.
The initiative will build a strong pipeline of young professionals equipped with knowledge, skills and networks to drive sustainable housing development in Africa.
The Club will serve as a talent discovery and leadership development platform for the industry.
Registration has commenced. Interested applicants can register at www.africahousingshow.com.
The first 200 members will enjoy free access to selected sessions at the 20th Anniversary Edition of AIHS in July 2026 in Abuja.
