Malagón was selected as one of the 100 young global leaders according to the World Economic Forum (2019), one of the 100 most successful CEOs in Colombia according to Gerente Magazine (2020), one of the 100 world's most influential young people in public sector according to APOLITICAL (2018), among other recognitions. Malagon is Senior Consultant on Housing and Urban Development and Visiting Fellow at JFK School of Government at Harvard University. At the age of33, he was appointed Minister of Housing, Cities and Sanitation of Colombia, a position he held for nearly 4 years, until March 2022. Under his leadership, Colombia reached the highest level of sales, initiations and housing subsidies in its history, and the access for the first time to drinkable water for more than 2 million people, deserving the distinctions "World Champion of Affordable Housing, 2021" and "Scroll of Honour, 2020", the highest recognitions of the UN for the design of housing policy in the World. Previously he was Vice President of the Colombian Association of Bankers and Director of Macroeconomic and Sectoral Analysis in the leading think tank of Colombia, FEDESARROLLO.
